How to connect to O2 Wifi

O2 Wifi is a hotspot network available in Waitrose, Costa coffee, McDonald’s and other places. It is not only for O2 customers, but for anyone with a mobile number (including international ones). In this guide we’ll show you how to connect for the first time.

O2 Wifi only requires registration once per device. After that, you will be remembered on that device.
The first thing you need to do is open WiFi settings on your device and select the O2 Wifi network.
After that, a login page should open automatically. If it doesn’t, open a web browser and navigate to any insecure website such as http://example.com.
Once you reach the login page, you will see the initial Welcome screen.
This page is titled Welcome to Free WiFi for everyone and contains some information about the fact that the WiFi can be used by anyone.
Scroll past this information and find the Mobile number text field. It will have an example number as a placeholder to guide you on format.
Once you’ve entered your number, agree to the Terms and Conditions and click Submit.
Once you’ve submitted this, O2 will send you a free text message with a code. The text will come from O2 UK and look something like this:
123456 – Welcome to O2 Wifi, this is your verification code
A new page will open with the title “Thanks, Nearly there…” You need to enter the code in the box provided (labelled Confirmation code) and click the Go button.
If you’ve used this phone number with O2 Wifi before, you will now be shown the Welcome page and will be online.
If not, a page titled “One last step…” or something like this will open and ask for your name, email and other information.
Enter your details in the boxes provided. If you feel too much information is being asked for, you could try either leaving all optional fields blank or entering random information for things such as date of birth.
We recommend that you input a valid email as it may be used for verification. After this, Submit the details and you will be online. You will not need to enter these details again when connecting with that mobile number.

You should now be able to connect to O2 Wifi. You can find your closest hotspots at o2wifi.co.uk
